Advocacy in Action | Collections Correction
Imagine, it’s the holiday season, you’re having a regular day and going about your business like normal. You check your mail and instead of opening Christmas cards, you find yourself opening a collection notice saying you owe almost $5,700 but they are willing to settle for less. This is the first you’ve heard of this charge. How can it already be in collections? This is not right! What is one to do? In this case, Lucy contacted her dedicated patient advocate, Carmen because The Purple Card has your back. Carmen promptly started reviewing and calling. The collection agency wasn’t being easy about this…or responsive. During this whole process, another notice gets mailed out. Carmen did not relent. She continued to call and expanded her reach to include the medical carrier. After about 2.5 months of following up and outreach, the case was resolved. Lucy had a $0 member responsibility! She was ecstatic and extremely grateful. Lucy stated:
Great, thank you so much! I appreciate your patience and persistence. It paid off tremendously!! I am dearly grateful for our wonderful insurance program.
Just. Like. That. A life has changed for the better.
