Advocacy in Action | In Network Status for Inpatient Treatment
Imagine, your child is having severe mental health issues. You can’t help so you have to send them to an inpatient facility to get the help that they need and deserve. Then, the facility claims to be out of network. Claims are being denied and the facility tries to bill you thousands of dollars for the treatment that could take…months. Then, once everything is squared away, that same facility holds ransom $6,000 till the insurance processes the claims! This was too much for Bruce’s family and so they got their Patient Advocate involved.
Their advocate got with the insurance company and then had a meeting with the facility and Bruce’s father and got them to recognize their in network status! Then, the advocate worked with their insurance to get the claims reprocessed with many being a $0 member responsibility! That $6,000…just over $2,000 was returned as the balance was his coinsurance. In total, between the conversations with the facility and the reprocessing of claims, the advocate has helped save Bruce’s family over $46,000!
They rock. Literally I would hug them if that were (a) appropriate, and (b) permitted due to Covid. THANK YOU!!!!
